ITINERARY
FRIDAY
Afternoon departure to our hotel near Newbury where we include Dinner and a relaxing evening.
SATURDAY
Full English Buffet Breakfast and then we will include a visit to the historic city of Portsmouth.
Our local guide will explain the importance and sights of this wartime and new modern area and the many attractions. The city was certainly significant in the Downton Abbey period.
On the return, we will make a short visit to Winchester famous for King Alfred and its magnificent cathedral.
We return to our hotel where a Buffet Dinner is included again.
SUNDAY
After a traditional Breakfast, we depart for the stunning Highclere Castle.
This majestic house is a wonderful place to visit with glorious gardens and a famous venue for celebrity weddings.
It was the period drama of Downton Abbey however that has made Highclere so well known throughout the world, with both interior and exterior filming taking place here including the last film 'The Grand Finale'.
Highclere is set in a 5,000-acre estate and you will be well rewarded with your visit.
We depart back to the West Midlands in the afternoon.
ORIDA NEWBURY HOTEL
Our Orida hotel is situated on the outskirts of Newbury. It has 113 bedrooms all with full private facilities, TV, telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee tray. There is a lounge and bar, restaurant, 24-hour reception, leisure centre with indoor swimming pool. The hotel has just two floors but no Lift.
